EPS Foam Used as a Sculpture Core

A large block of 1 lb density EPS foam supplied by Universal foam Products was used as the foundation for a detailed sculpture of Miles Standish, a historical figure from the Plymouth Colony. Standing approximately 4 feet tall with his hat, the sculpture was created by shaping the EPS foam into a lightweight core. The foam was then treated with a hardener and sealer before clay was applied to sculpt the detailed facial features, beard, and clothing. The finished sculpture will serve as a model for a granite reproduction planned for this winter. This unique project demonstrates how EPS foam provides an affordable, lightweight, and versatile foundation for artists creating sculptures, statues, and other custom three-dimensional designs.
