Rome Memorial Hospital in Rome, NY, chose polystyrene blocks to create the replica of the U.S.S Enterprise. RMH choose expanded polystyrene blocks to build the parade float because it was light weight, yet strong and versatile. They built the captain’s chair and main saucer from EPS Blocks, then painted and applied adhesive letters and parade garland. Earning oohs and aahs all along the parade route July 30, 2011, RMH won 1st place by “going boldly where no hospital has gone before.” Our ship, the RMH Paragon, was named after the new electronic medical record that we were launching that weekend.
