EPS is used by professional and amateur artists throughout the country for sculpting. It is lightweight, easy to carve and readily available nationwide. For this project the artists used 6 blocks of .9 lb density expanded polystyrene 40” x 48” x 96”. Several of the blocks were glued together to create the beginning of a cat and a Pegabuffacorn for the ETHDenver 2020 Conference in Denver Colorado. Tools used to carve the foam consisted of a hot knife with blade, hot knife with bent wire and a hotwire bow cutter. The paint was latex house paint applied after a base coat of water putty. All of the scrap was recycled.
