Two large blocks of 1.5lb Virgin EPS, 40” x 48” x 80”, were used by The Oakton Performing Arts Center located in Des Plaines, IL to carve angels for the production of Romeo & Juliet at the college. A reciprocating saw was the primary tool used to sculpt the foam. Very talented artists did the carving.
EPS is a favorite medium for sculptors due to its light weight and ease of carving with saws and hot knives. The material can be coated with practically any material.
