Giant pumpkin carved by an artist
Every year around Halloween hundreds of artists gather to carve thousands of pumpkins at “The Rise of the Jack-O-Lanterns events, which are now held at six different locations in the United States. Paul Diambrosio, an artist from Peekskill, New York carved these pumpkins from blocks of .9 lb density EPS as a centerpiece for one of the events. Starting with pieces of EPS 6” x 48” x 48” and 12” x 48” x 48” he masterfully changed the EPS blocks into two very realistic, hollowed out pumpkins. The photos take you through the process.
Pumpkin carving out of EPS has become very popular over the past 10 years for both commercial and front yard displays. They can be carved with reciprocating saws, hot knives, rasps and a variety of other hand tools. The are a variety of coatings available to keep your sculpture protected for years to come.
