Harvest Time is doing a sermon series called LEGOS, connecting with Christ. We use EPS and Styrofoam Brand foam on a regular basis for set designs and stage props because it is light weight and formable. After searching for hours locally for a “thicker, bigger” foam product I turned to the internet and found Universal Foam. We ordered the 2″ thick and 4″ thick foam sheets at a great price and received them quickly. Our final product was a fully functional Lego man suit. Thank you Universal Foam!
Basically the Lego men were just used to be in our foyers to create a fun environment. They posed in pictures and greeted the people and spent time hanging out with the kids. They also helped us promote our new small groups.

Industrial Packaging Noodles are a low cost, ready-to-use, minimum storage space required, alternative to foam peanuts.
A couple months ago the Muskingum County Business Incubator enlisted the help of Xpressive graphiX to produce a creative marketing piece. The premise was simple,The Journey Tree represented an entrepreneurs personal journey from a simple idea to a enormous success by embracing the support of the Business Incubator. The concept was born from a series of brainstorming sessions with a team of people from the MCBI and Xpressive graphiX. From the very onset we wanted to do something “different”, something that would make a statement. EPS and Styrofoam Brand foam were considered for the project. We decided to utilize EPS foam to make our brainchild a reality. With a quick phone call to Tina Queen at Universal Foam , outlining our idea…Our foam Arrived!
The foam blocks were huge! We got 4 of them and they measured 10 feet x 4 feet x 3 feet! Each one weighed in at an impressive 125 pounds! Foam was the perfect medium for this project due to the fact it needed to be light weight and mobile, it needed to be able to be assembled and disassembled easily and fit through a standard double door. We were able to cut the foam with minimal effort in order to begin forming the shapes which were than affixed to the tree. Every piece of this enormous sculpture, which stood 12′ tall x 8′ wide x 6′ deep was completely hand crafted. The foam and support I received from Tina and Universal Foam was impeccable and I can not wait to do some more large scale projects like this one in the future.

Styrofoam is originally a trademark name of Dow Chemical Company for polystyrene foam or extruded polystyrene (XPS). It was accidentally invented by Ray McIntire during the World War II while he was searching for insulators for electrical wires. He combined styrene and isobutylene with the application of pressure producing the foamed polystyrene. It is very light (about 30 times) compared to regular polystyrene because it is 98% air. It is also a very buoyant, moisture resisting and a good insulating material. Foamed polystyrene are made from small spherical polystyrene beads. They are heated with steam together with an expanding agent. When the agent boils, the beads become softer and expand to about forty times its original size. They are cooled down then heated once again with steam but this time within a mold to achieve the desired shape. There are a lot of uses of Styrofoam today. We see them in fast foods used as packaging for pastas, burger and other foods. Also, they are used as disposable coffee cups ad plates. Some interior decorating materials are made up of Styrofoam such as Christmas tree balls, cane, and other creative crafts. Our appliances are protected with Styrofoam in their packages. Styrofoam is made as “peanuts” to fill in empty spaces in the packages. In the shipment industry, they are used to protect highly fragile and breakable items. There are a lot more uses for Styrofoam. We see them almost anywhere and even use it everyday. It has been a part of the commercial industry of today. Its versatility makes it very popular and in demand to almost all types of industries.
UPS Boxes alone weren’t secure enough for my Customer’s product, so we fabricated a piece to fit around the product using 1 lb density EPS. The pieces were glued together to create a perfect fit end cap.
Check out this video from last weekend. We (my son & I) were visiting with a customer in Kansas at a hunting ranch. The product is used briefly in the clip.
One of my customers had a very unique application for EPS. They created a new form of watercraft.
The Hydroboard is a lightweight, inexpensive electric watercraft. The hull has a solid foam core made with 2lb Virgin EPS foam and covered in fiberglass or carbon fiber making it nearly unsinkable. The Hydroboard comes in an 8 foot single person watercraft and a 10 foot 2 person watercraft with many options. The Hydroboard is built right here in the United States by Eastern Expedition Equipment.
The heat of summer is upon us and it’s time to think about protecting wine and other food items in shipment. We have the solution for you: EPS wine shippers, coolers and box liners.
Have a custom shaped bottle or jar that doesn’t necessarily fit a standard solution? We can help with that, too. We can wire-cut EPS inserts to protect your bottle or jar during shipment. We just need the dimensions of the item, how many you ship per box and the inside dimensions (L x W x H) of the box.

Did you know that you can use EPS as part of a topiary? I have a customer who is doing just that. She is using the foam as the legs of an elephant topiary table display. The foam will be covered with glue and seeds to make the legs more elephant like. What other creative uses can you come up with?
EPS corner pads are a handy way of protecting items during shipment. Simply apply them to the corners of art work, appliances, furniture or other items that don’t necessarily need full coverage protection.
Perhaps you need more coverage than a corner pad has to offer. We can do L shaped edge protector pieces to be used alone or in combination with the corner pads.
