This pool project, the Hyatt Place on Delray Beach in Pineapple Grove Florida called for EPS geofoam as light weight void fill under the concrete pool. After reviewing the prints we sent over a quote for the product and a preliminary sketch of how it was to be installed. The contractor liked the price and layout. The real time saving part of the project for the customer was the tapered sheets to form the bottom slope of the pool. It was sloped at a 1/12 pitch in a 44’ run with all of the pieces precut and labeled. The customer was very pleased with the geofoam and the documentation provided on site that made the installation easy. They were also pleased that after the order was placed we had the foam on the job within a week.

One of my customers had a very unique application for EPS. They created a new form of watercraft.
The Hydroboard is a lightweight, inexpensive electric watercraft. The hull has a solid foam core made with 2lb Virgin EPS foam and covered in fiberglass or carbon fiber making it nearly unsinkable. The Hydroboard comes in an 8 foot single person watercraft and a 10 foot 2 person watercraft with many options. I sold a returning customer EPS for insulating huge garage doors this week. One side has reflective poly film to reflect heat out in the summer. The other side is covered with Haircell* to make it look nicer on the inside of the building.

EPS can be used a mold for making various things including concrete tiles. This drawing shows a tile mold with a bullnose edge. This was quoted for a customer in the South who needed custom concrete tiles for residential use.
We are currently working with several customers who are insulating metal buildings at an economical cost. One customer in the south has an R-value between 35-40 on the roof due to the high temperature at his location. He is already seeing a return on his investment. We just got a nice project for letters that are 7-foot tall, 9 1/4″ deep that are being used for a concrete block outs. EPS was chosen for the project because of it’s cost savings and lighweight properties. Once the concrete is set the contractor will remove the EPS and fill it in with pavers.
